'Transperfect Domestic Tool' is a term for a category of artifacts encompassing a number of minor baubles and utility items. Not weapons or protections, with powers for which mighty beings such as the Exalted or spirits have little use, Transperfect Domestic Tools were primarily used by the civil population, Creation's mortals, during the High [[Golden Age]]. These tools used battery systems or connected to [[Ambient Essence Pillar]] grids to provide motes rather than needing commitment from the user, and most employed [[:Category:Magitech|magitech]] principles to allow for mass production.

Many of these devices did not survive the Usurpation... in many developed regions of Creation the infrastructure supplying essence to streetlights, plumbing, water filtration, and the like had already been encountering difficulties as the Solar Exalted drew resources away for their ever-grander projects, and the devastating battles of the Dragonblooded rebellion destroyed vast swathes before the Solar Exalts were finally suppressed. In the aftermath, Dragonblooded concerned with their own power struggles and lacking the heights of skill and power available to Creation's former rulers proved unable or unwilling to maintain nearly all of what remained. Even where individual tools survived, without industrial support to provide repair and maintenance, many devices simply ceased to function, used as durable mundane tools or scavenged for traces of magical materials as the centuries wore on.

Yet a small number of Tools, those designed for use by colonial expeditions and kingdoms outside the developed urban centres, were less reliant on infrastructure, and continued to work after it had vanished. Where once these would have been beneath the notice of Creation's rulers, they are now valued conveniences for mortal kings and Dragonblooded Dynasts, or the secret treasures of peasant scavengers who stumble upon their miracles. The [[Scavenger Economy]] sees booming business when caches of them are recovered in working over, and in a few cases their workings have been divined and new production carried out.
