New page

A prefecture of the central Blessed Isle, Black Mountain Prefecture is located to the north of [[White Mussel Prefecture]], named for its tallest geographic feature and the small city of the same name which sits at its base (home to the prefectural offices of the [[Thousand Scales]]. Black Mountain is named for its dark, rich soil, and the whole of the mountain has been terraced for agriculture, producing ample crops of rice, while the surrounding lands grow wheat for noodle-hungry residents of the Blessed Isle.

The mountain and its city have little of note, save for the preserved remnants of a First Age system of pumps and irrigation which supply water to both crops and homes, and carry away sewage. The maintenance of this system was overseen by a small office of the [[Enlightened Regulators of Essence Engineering]], though that office has been closed in recent years due to budget cuts.
