The Banquet brings together the spirits of the [[Court of Tireless Treadings]], an association of Creation’s road and travel gods, allowing them to coordinate their activities in overseeing Creation’s travel networks, confer with representatives of the [[Bureau of Humanity]]’s Five Directions Directorate, and enjoy themselves. The event also serves another purpose: the gods traveling to and from the Banquet do so at a time when superstition says that none ought travel, encouraging mortals by example to make use of their roadway and searoute purviews.

While some might think that divinities traveling through an Immaculate temple to attend a party would be objectionable to the monks there, the [[Immaculate Order]] views this as right and proper, for as roads and shipping lanes all interconnect across Creation, so it is the duty of their divinities to interconnect and coordinate their proper activities.

By tradition, though it would be inappropriate for mortals or Dragonblooded to join in the festivities, the [[Scarlet Empress]] sent a fine gift of luxurious art or delicacies to the party as a token of thanks and respect.

This stands as one of the first indications of her disappearance.
